It sounds like those people were able to get a recovery image straight to 23.01, which isn't available in my case. I've seen other people reference this error on the Netgate forums, but no one has identified the underlying problem or a clear solution.
But just like the first time, I got the fatal error upon reboot.

And this time, the webGUI gave me an option to update to 23.01. Again, the update to 22.01 went seemingly fine. I tried restoring a backup (back to 2.6 CE) and trying again. But upon reboot after the update started, the system would not successfully boot into the pfSense, with the following error:įatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function gettext() in /etc/inc/certs.inc:48 More specifically, I actually got to the pfSense menu in the console, but no options worked other than loading the shell. However, I was able to initiate an update to 23.01 from the console. The first time I tried this, the 22.01 system could not see any updates from the WebGUI. The first part of the process seems to go OK- I can update from 2.6 CE to Plus 22.01. I'm running into a problem trying to update to pfSense Plus 23.01. I'm using a Fitlet2 with pfSense, running on 2.6 CE.
